Ohope Beach School is a year 1 to 6 full primary school located east of Whakatane. It has 17 teaching spaces and a roll of 320 pupils. 

 

The redevelopment of the school’s site and facilities, which included reworking the 

existing Master Plan, as well as replacing the administration block and several classrooms that were affected by weathertightness issues. 

 

Located in a valley with restricted frontage, the school’s challenging site required a design based around a successful stormwater solution as well as careful placement of the new buildings. 

 

The project was be staged so the school could continue to operate during demolition 

and construction works.
