5 GRACE AVENUE

The lifestyle of being able to live and work in the Mount appealed so much to the clients, that they sold their holiday apartment in the Mount and decided to settle permanently in a new house designed to suit their needs and their grown up family.

Staying healthy and active with surfing, kayaking, cycling and climbing the mount meant that there needed to be plenty of space for sports equipment.

The site at 5 Grace Avenue was split into smaller sections to accommodate 2 purpose designed townhouses. One of theses residences has been designed to the clients' specific brief and the other for the original owner of the site.

The proximity to the Mount naturally became the main north westerly aspect for the design. The upper level living space enjoys a completely glazed façade that frames the Mount’s profile. This leads onto an entertainment deck with a retractable canopy used for sun and rain protection.

The upper level is a self contained space for the clients with open plan living, a master suite and office. It was important for an holistic architectural and interior design approach, to capture the clients' personal taste and pieces they have collected over the years from extensive travelling around the world.

The lower level is a more relaxed family living space leading onto the deck and garden with 2 bedrooms, garaging and a gym.
