First Principles Architects were appointed by the client to create a new Urban street corner in The Mount. The site on the corner of Maunganui Road and Banks Avenue is a very important node in the main street and a connector to Pilot Bay and the cruise ship terminal, as well as the main beach and of course the High Street. 

 

The new retail building has been designed with an active street corner that opens up to the car park behind and provides a covered outdoor room and excellent pedestrian connectivity.

This movement of people activates these edges, which has restaurant and café outlets. These are complimented by a Retail anchor and other boutique retail offerings. The client wanted to establish a quality building, that would contribute to the identity of the Mount, with attention to detail architectural claddings and roof forms, as well as hard and soft landscaped spaces.
